Ingredients
For the Chicken Wings
2 lbs chicken wings (wingettes and drumettes)
Sea salt and black pepper, to taste
1 Tbsp potato starch
For the Chili Lime Honey Sauce
1 Tbsp raw honey
2 Tbsp avocado oil
1 tsp cayenne powder (adjust to taste)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
Zest of 1 lime, finely grated
1 1/2 Tbsp lime juice (about 2 limes)
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
Fresh cilantro, minced (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Prep and Marinate the Wings
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, which helps them become extra crispy.
Place the wings in a large mixing bowl and season them with sea salt and black pepper.
Add the potato starch to the wings and toss to coat evenly, making sure each wing is lightly covered.
2. Bake the Wings
Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden and crispy.
3. Make the Chili Lime Honey Sauce
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the honey, avocado oil, cayenne powder, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, sea salt, lime zest, lime juice, and minced garlic.
Stir occasionally, allowing the sauce to gently warm and the flavors to meld, about 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to overheat or burn the honey.
4. Coat the Wings
Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
Pour the warm chili lime honey sauce over the wings and toss to coat thoroughly.
Optional but recommended: Bake Again for Crispiness by placing the sauced wings back in the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes for a crispy, caramelized finish.
5. Garnish and Serve
Arrange the wings on a serving platter, sprinkle with fresh minced cilantro, and serve immediately for the best flavor and crunch.
Serve with extra lime wedges on the side for a burst of fresh lime flavor.
Tips for Perfect Wings
Marinate for extra flavor: Marinating the wings with the potato starch helps enhance their texture and adds a light, crispy coating.
Adjust spice to taste: For milder wings, reduce the cayenne and red pepper flakes. For extra heat, feel free to add more!
These Chili Lime Honey Chicken Wings are perfect for game nights, family gatherings, or even meal prepping for the week! The mix of spicy, sweet, and tangy makes each bite irresistible, and the cilantro adds the perfect finishing touch.
